Description
“You keep your nose out of the investigation, you hear?” Her boss had told her more than once. It didn’t take long before Alix wished she had heeded his warning. After all, she was a journalist, not a member of the French police! On her flight from Canada to Paris, Alix befriends six year old Vivien who is left without a chaperone, and Alix is unaware that she’s made herself a suspect in the plot to kidnap the little girl. Once in Paris, she’s whisked away and taken to be questioned by Olivier Rubaix, a detective with the French government. Sparks fly when the twenty-six year old from the Yukon finds out who has been trailing her and why. When Alix throws caution in the wind and ventures out on her own to find out what happened to her colleague, Pete Rayder, who disappeared while on the same assignment she was sent to finish, the journalist gets herself into trouble and Detective Rubaix has to come to her rescue. Alix is fit to be tied when she learns where she has to spend the remainder of her time in France, and ends up battling unfamiliar emotions. During Alix’s weeks of house arrest, Vivien is kidnapped and Alix gets herself involved with the kidnappers to free the girl, much to Olivier Rubaix’s disdain. While the young woman has to endure the brutalities of a terrorist cell, it’s up to Olivier and his team to get her out. But will they be in time?
