Description

According to Johann Gottlob Nathusius, his forefathers came from Sweden, or so the legend goes. One of his ancestors came to Wittenberg in Germany to study the new Protestant faith that Dr. Martin Luther had proclaimed on October 31st, 1519. He wanted to hear it from Luther himself. (However, Heinrich von Nathusius, Ph.D., studied old archives about 200 years later which clearly showed that the family originated in Silesia.) The Wittenberg University records show the name Fabius Natus from the area of Lausitz in the eastern part of Brandenburg in Prussia, both in 1541 and 1584.
