Description
Where are you from? we ask or are asked to gain some perspective of whom we are talking to. My brothers Ed, Norman and I once filled out an identical form. One question, which I have forgotten, asked for national origin, ethnic origin, language origin, historic background – whatever. One wrote Dutch, one German, and the third Canadian. Each thought his answer was quite credible to where are you from? How can such outstandingly scholarly, brilliant, intelligent and informed men have such divergent answers? And why was I right and the others wrong?
