Description

This work is not a scholarly translation and commentary for the sake of contributing to the field of knowledge of who thought what, where, and when, and who influenced whom in the history of philosophy, nor is it a devotional kind of teaching, drawing from an extensive scriptural and religious knowledge. Of the works I have read in those veins, as interesting as they are in their own ways, none serve as a model for the kind of writing I am suited to do, and neither style would be my approach to philosophy anyway. Nevertheless, I do have my own take on the subject matter of Yoga philosophy, which I developed through personal reflection and discovery, and for which I sought and found structure and validation in these three works. I began this project not with any thought of publishing, but solely for my own benefit, in order to build a framework within which I could clarify and develop my abstract understanding, but the work eventually grew to where the notion of someday just pressing “delete”, or even letting it languish forever on a plastic disc, became unthinkable.
