My mom said she is tired of all the meetings at school. Everyone is trying to figure out ways to help me do better at school. In grade 1, they sent me to see a doctor. The doctor said I have this thing called ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and wanted me to take medicine. My mom wanted to try something else before making me take medicine, though. I heard my mother tell the doctor: “it’s hard to settle Benjee down for bed at night and get him up for school some mornings. He can be aggressive with his younger sister, Shanti, and his dog, Scamper, but I don’t see the temper tantrums his teacher describes.” Over the past couple of weeks, it’s even harder to pay attention in school. I can’t sit still, and everything makes me MAD! Sometimes I cry, and I don’t know why … I just want to run away and hide!
