Thud!……As I was sitting at my computer, I looked out of the window and saw House Sparrows flying off in every direction, including into my window. Thud! Again and again! Then… I saw why the small birds were trying to escape. A beautiful male Cooper’s Hawk was sitting on my fence only 10 meters away. I grabbed my camera and ran to the back door. I was able to take several pictures of the Hawk before he flew away. The Cooper’s Hawk is a bird of prey, an accipiter. Look in the Glossary for the meaning of this fancy word.
