Description

Golfing Links Courses in the British and Emerald Isles recounts year-by-year, the itineraries and a light-hearted look at the adventures and experiences of a core group of Canadian golfers and their friends playing the links courses of Great Britain and Ireland over the course of seventeen ‘annual once-in-a-lifetime’ trips beginning in 1993 through to 2010. To whet the appetite of fellow golfers, there are course descriptions and observations seen through the eyes of the author and his playing companions; perspective on the history of the courses and the famous players who have played them, drawn from the course websites; plus some hands-on advice for those readers who may be interested in planning a trip of their own to play links golf in the Isles. Walt Lemon lives in Toronto with his wonderful wife Betty. Together they are the proud parents of Steven and Janis (Cooper), and doting grandparents of Addison and Jack Lemon and Theo Cooper. Walt’s successful business career saw him first at IBM Canada for 25 years, followed by an eight year stint at Visa Canada Association, and wrapped up providing consulting services to the financial services industry before retiring in 2006. As a long time member of Whitevale Golf Club in Pickering, Ontario, he admits to one addiction, that being golf, and plays as much golf as time and family permit…one hundred and fifty games a year and counting. This, his first chronicle, was a labour of love, to capture the great times with good friends playing on the storied venues of the United Kingdom and Ireland.
