For many years, I have been known as Granny in the trees by my grandchildren. I came to live on Saltspring Island at the end of my thirty year career as a teacher. My profession took me from Ontario to Yukon and from private, to inner city, to native village schools. I was born in Cambridge, England and immigrated to Canada as a young child. I love the simple stories from childhood. My little book, Green and Gooey, is about a granddaughter, a grandmother and a tiny tree frog. It is set amidst the island’s animals, birds and insects found on my property. It is one of a series of stories left on my computer over the years since my oldest grandchild first came to visit me here! Gathering up images and playing with computer graphics to illustrate the antics of a grandchild can only be called “fun”. I know how important it is to have accurate information to answer the questions of curious children and so I have included a, “Did You Know,” page, at the end of the book.
