Description
IN THIS FICTIONAL STORY,
Eddie is a naive, yet true-to-himself young man who has difficulty making a living according to civilized rules laid down by society and the corporate world. His eagerness to become rich and his tendency to act on impulse result in quirky situations and job loss after job loss. In the beginning, Eddie is forced to leave Vancouver in search of work. He heads east, ostensibly to Calgary, and works for a friend that has arranged a bakery job for him there. Along the way, however, he meets many bizzare individuals and has outlandish adventures in love, work, and life. Though never the brightest banana of the bunch, he tries his hand at various jobs — farming, being a shepherd, and even a musician’s grip. He learns there are different ways to gauge success beyond merely the financial — there are also family, and love, etcetera. Does Eddie ever make it to Calgary and his dream job as a baker? Who is on his heels keeping him moving? Who are the kidnappers? What is their connection to Eddie? Who is the strange woman in the wheelchair who calls Eddie in the dead of night? Why does Eddie roll a joint with aliens? Why does Eddie play music for the wildlife? What could hens, a bag of milk, a rooster, an eagle, and a stone possibly portend for Eddie’s life?
