Description
These two voices, although dramatically different in timbre, resonate with each other,
sometimes over a vast distance, sometimes as close as lips to ear. Rarely has listening been made so audible, each poet to the other, each poet to their own words. The compression of the tanka
form itself helps bring these listening pauses into being, pauses in which we readers too have the space and time to hear what is there. This volume provides an expansive reading experience as well as opening up new possibilities in English for this form of Japanese verse with ancient roots.
