Of all the great saints who walked this earth there is no man more humble, more just, and more closely united to Christ, than Saint Joseph. In Joseph, Jesus found the most noble of fathers who willingly abandoned himself to the Divine Will of God, receiving all the sufferings and graces that came with it. Within the last two centuries, the Church has been more vocal in asking the faithful to look to Joseph as a role model and intercessor. Our most recently elected Holy Father, Pope Francis, was inaugurated on March 19th – the Solemnity of St. Joseph. Since his election, he has promoted devotion to St. Joseph going so far as to consecrate the Vatican City State to his patronage. St. Joseph’s name has also been added to all four Eucharistic Prayers of the Mass. This work is by no means the “be all, end all” of St Joseph’s story, but rather the purpose of this little book is to lay a foundation for the development of a personal devotion to St. Joseph by first getting acquainted with him. Ite ad Ioseph!
