There were striking similarities between the great Ben Hogan and Stan Leonard. They both were tough, strong-armed middleweights,155 pounds to 165, who smoked their drives and too many cigarettes. They were intensely disciplined, shared common personalities and they both started by hitting more hooks than fades. Hogan shook off his troublesome hooking early in his career but Leonard was plagued by his right-to-left tendencies for almost a decade before becoming a tour pro. He was desperate for answers, solutions.
