Description
Sum Yung Guys tells the untold stories about growing up in Vancouver’s Chinatown beginning in the late 1930’s and beyond. It shares the history from a young boys perspective, about the issues faced thru family struggles, and takes the reader back to a simpler time when milk was delivered by horse drawn wagons and air raid warnings were frequent. The emotions and challenges of living in a city at a time when Chinese were a minority, were not always expressed openly, but played an important role in building friendships that have endured for seven decades. Coming from a family where three generations of young men came to Canada dating back to 1883 gives a glimpse of the challenges they faced in the wonderful city they chose to call home
