Description
By the way, what is your very first recollection? For me it remains a hot August day in 1949. I was twenty-two months old and my brother Kent was just about here. Dad and I were at the old Vancouver, Washington bus station preparing to embark on an exciting day at Jantzen Beach Amusement Park, over on the Oregon side of the Columbia River. Just before boarding Dad phoned St. Joseph’s Hospital for the latest update, and learned that Mom was now in deep labour. So, our trip to Jantzen Beach was put off until every other August 21st thereafter, in celebration of Kent’s birthday.
